Maungapōhatu is our Mountain,
Tauranga is our River,
Tanatana is our Marae,
Te Urewera is our Ancestral homeland,
Ngāti Rere and Tamakaimoana are our sub-tribes,
Tūhoe is our Tribe,
Aotearoa is our Motherland.
I am Taiha-Moetu, one of Ngā Tamariki o Te Kohu — “The Children of the Mist.”
I am the eldest daughter of Pomare Heemi and Rarauhe Rakuraku, and alongside my youngest sister, Grandmother Hato-Lee, we carry forward the sacred lineage of our people. Born in Gisborne and raised in Te Karaka with our four brothers and two sisters among the Aitangi a Mahaki tribe, we were immersed from birth in Tūhoe cultural practices. Daily karakia (prayers), rituals, and deep connection with our Atua (Gods) and Tipuna (Ancestors) formed the foundation of our upbringing.
As descendants of tribal leaders and healers, both Hato and I walk the healer’s path. For over 40 years, I have worked as a Spiritual and Holistic Guidance Counselor, clairvoyant, clairsentient healer, and empowerment workshop leader. My mahi has taken me across the world — to Germany, Europe, the United States, Egypt, Greece, Peru, Thailand, and beyond — sharing Māori spirituality, healing practices, and cultural teachings.
My focus has always been on empowerment, especially for women, guiding individuals to rediscover their purpose, values, and inherent wisdom. My mahi is guided by “The Loved Ones” — my Ancestors and the Godforce — whose voices and presence have always been with me.
Together with my sister, Grandmother Hato, we travel nationally and internationally to share our people’s wisdom, healing, and spiritual guidance. We are a living prayer of our ancestors, carrying forward the Old Ways into the New Day. In Light Language, Taiha-Moetu means “I stand in my Power and for My Dreams.” This is my purpose — to empower others to stand in theirs, always with arohanui (great love).
