OUR ELDERS & WISDOM KEEPERS

JENNY SAWANOHK
ALEXANDER

Jenny (Sawanohk) Alexander is a proud member of Moose Cree First Nation, an Indigenous healer, and a psychotherapist devoted to the healing of individuals, families, and communities. Based in Ottawa, she is the founder of Misiwe Ni Relations Healing Lodge and Red Stone Snake Woman, where she brings together therapeutic practice, Indigenous ways of knowing, and culturally grounded approaches to healing.

Through her work, Jenny creates spaces for restoration, reflection, and reconnection. Her healing practice incorporates energy healing, ceremony, and land-based experiences, including a nationally recognized Healing Forest where people are invited to reconnect with the natural world and the wisdom held within the land.

Drawing on her background in psychology and social work, Jenny has developed innovative, trauma-informed programs that support Indigenous youth, families, and individuals navigating complex trauma and addictions. Her work honors the importance of cultural identity, ancestral connection, and the preservation of Indigenous knowledge as essential pathways toward healing and well-being.

As a Truth and Reconciliation Specialist, educator, consultant, and speaker, Jenny guides professionals and communities across Ontario in deepening their understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Through education and dialogue, she helps build bridges of understanding, supporting meaningful reconciliation and the restoration of relationships.

At Guardians of the Sacred, Jenny joins a circle of Elders, Healers, and Wisdom Keepers carrying forward the teachings that nurture connection, resilience, and collective healing. Her work is an invitation to remember the wisdom of our ancestors, honor the gifts each person carries, and walk together toward a future rooted in compassion, understanding, and respect for all life.
